Born in Switzerland, Deetron - aka Sam Geiser - has his roots firmly in the realms of Detroit and Chicago. That is to say he is quite obviously a lover of quality house and techno that has it's origins in the geographical areas I just mentioned.

This mix compilation is one that really struck a chord with me. Having grown up on a healthy diet of the same music I can really empathise with his sound. The guy knows his history and has managed to translate this great era of musical history into a very fresh update that would be most welcome in any half decent club across the globe.,

The mix is crafted beautifully, gliding from track to another seamlessly, almost as if you were being carried on a little fluffy cloud. This is a testimony not only to Deetron's mixing ability, but his programming and track selection. He is a DJ's DJ, a purist a historian and a future house music legend.

Big coup by Platipus to get international DJ and producer Chris Coco to select and mix this compilation. He has done a stellar job too with tracks from some of the hottest names in electronic music right now like Glass Candy, Booka Shade, Todd Terje, Quiet Village, Loco Dice and Au Revoir Simone.

It's hardly surprising that the boy knows his stuff when you look back at a career that has seen him produce countless album, become editor of DJ Mag in the 90's and DJ across the globe.

There's not a great deal to say about this apart from the obvious track selection being good, well mixed etc because it's just a compilation mix. It's definitely worth getting hold of though and is better than the last installment in the series by Bliss.

This is electro-rock in it's funkiest format ever! Dead Rock Machine really know how to make quirky, tough, edgy, raw electronic pop with just a hint of the underground - enough to make it cool but still keep it accessible.

They recently did a remix of Metronomy's 'Heartbreaker' which is how they came to my attention.

Their brand new 6 track EP (rather generous for an EP) continues on the same dancefloor vibe. It's right in the moment in terms of credibility. You will be hearing a lot of music of this ilk in the electro clubs. What really sets theses guys apart from a lot of the mediocre electro acts around right now is that they are a real band and do an awesome live performance.

I love the synths and simplicity of their sound. All I think they are really lacking is some killer vocals. I like the vocals on 'G!!d N!!ws' but they need to take it up a notch. If they get that on board for their next release then they could enter the Justice / Digitalism forum, if not worldwide then certainly in Paris and possibly London. I'm looking forward to seeing them play live next time I'm in Paris!

Their album was just re-released and reviewed here on Vainzine recently.

The remix package is quite simply a deep / italo disco lovers wet dream.

Nothing much to say on this one really, there are four superb remixes. Three of Optimo, by Matthew Dear, Optimo (the took their name from the track) and DJ Sample. I think the Matthew Dear remix is the standout track. It's an epic 10 minute tripped out electronic journey. There seems to be a bit of a revival of the metro area type sound going on right now and as usual this is right on the trend from the man of the moment.

The 'Rubbermiro' remix by The Loving Hand is quite interesting too. there's this great Latin trumpet which gives the whole track this fiesta kinda vibe.. I really think that Domino have done something special and inspirational with the release of this remix package. It's not pandering to the cool kids, it's just top quality honest to god electronic goodness that needs to be heard, is begging to be heard and most certainly will be heard!

The original versions on this release are really good. But the remixes are simply outstanding and take this release to another level.

There are three remixes on the CD version. They include an epic 12 minute nu disco remix of Ghostdance by Moscow. It's a real journey but don't be put off by the length. I don't think they could have made it any shorter than this without ruining it. It's epic for a reason.

Then Drums Of Death turn in the bastard child of Italo Disco with there remix of Carousel. If you like Italo and DFA stuff then this will really hit your erogenous zones.

Heartbreak go all 80's synth and Germanic with their impressive rigid remix of Ghostdance. What a superb value for money package of quality music. The artwork's not bad either!
