"A last minute substitution pitted 18 year old Vania King against Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens in the Fed Cup quarterfinal this past weekend in Delray Beach, Florida. After being informed late Sunday morning that she would replace Serena Williams in the third match of the tournament, King played her best tennis of the season and clinched the series by defeating Flipkens 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Later in the day, King and Lisa Raymond paired up to defeat Caroline Maes/Tamaryn Hendler 6-1, 6-2 and seal the United State's 5-0 sweep. The US will host Russia in the Fed Cup semifinal in July."
