New LEAKS: Scott Weiland [Happy In Galoshes] + Simian Mobile Disco [Clock EP]

posted by blueclover

New LEAKS today. It has been a real surprise lately with lots of unexpected music popping up. One of the latest today is from STP and X Velvet Revolver front man Scott Weiland. I have always been a huge STP fan and feel like they never got as much cred as they deserved. I know this current tour is a money maker but I am hoping for a new album. Recently there has been a lot of talk and I am starting to feel a little more optimistic. Here is some of whats been on the below empty forum boards....

"After the show I ended up back stage and got to talk with Eric and Rob for a bit and I asked them both if there was any tension in the band and they both said none at all, everything is GREAT in camp STP........then I asked them both about a new STP record and what not......and they both said that it will 100% happen......they are going into the studio soon, I think this week, to Record a Christmas song that Rob wrote......and then they go to record new material in JANUARY.....even with Scotts tour and everything their still going to record, according to both Eric and Robert.......I have a lot more faith after talking to them, that there will be a new STP record......I hope by summer 2010, which is only a year in a half away......not that long since we waited this long, but who knows it could come out a lot sooner or later......they did not give me an estimated release date or anything......"

and this is from scott on a radio show:

New STP: "there's been a whole pool-load of songs written on this tour already." Interviewer said everyone wants a new STP album, Scott said "yeah, of course..." "We're about nothing and everything" (meaning different types of songs). Didn't explicitly say there will be a new STP album, but the quoted comments are certainly positive.

Anyway I did hear the first single of Happy in Galoshes and didn't care for it. My Prediction is that there are a couple good songs on it but not a ton. I am about to check it out right now. Here is the Track List:

| 01 - Missing Cleveland 04:14
| 02 - Tangle With You Mind 03:43
| 03 - Blind Confusion 04:22
| 04 - Paralysis 03:51
| 05 - She Sold Her System 04:32
| 06 - Fame 03:26
| 07 - Killing Me Sweetly 04:33
| 08 - Big Black Monster 03:24
| 09 - Crash 03:47
| 10 - Beautiful Day 05:10
| 11 - Pictures And Computers 06:50
| 12 - Arch Angel 04:39
| 13 - Be Not Afraid 06:20

www.stonetemplepilots.com
www.scottweiland.com
http://www.belowempty.com/forum

The other leak that popped up today was simian mobile disco's Clock EP.

They are supposedly tracks that didn't make the last album. Here is the track list:

1 Clock (04:20)
2 Simple (05:57)
3 3 Pin Din (03:38)
4 State of Things (05:02)

www.myspace.com/simianmobiledisco
www.simianmobiledisco.co.uk

http://theblueclover.com

Duff McKagen Speaks About Scott Weiland

posted by wettner
Duff McKagen, bassist for Velvet Revolver and ex bassist of Guns
N' Roses, spoke with KISW 99.9 FM in Seattle. The excerpts below
highlight the conversation about Scott Weiland. Why? Because I like
Scott, that is why.

Steve is the interviewer...obviously.

Duff: "We [Velvet Revolver] had gotten rid of [singer] Scott [Weiland], last, it was actually on April Fools Day of this year…."

Steve: Was there any irony in that, by the way, Duff?

Duff:
"It was kind of cool… it was kind of cool. It was the 'step into my
office, you’re fired' kind of thing. I have to say. We went through a
lot…he put us through a lot of crap that last tour. So it was kind of
that feeling. We were getting through the gig, we were in Amsterdam….
we were getting through our last few songs. I started to get, I can't
lie…. a little giddy. 'This going to be great…this is going to be
great.' So we got done, and yeah… Slash and I did the 'step into my office' thing."

Steve: "So you guys were on stage and the rest of the band knew?"

Duff: "Oh, we knew four months prior we were going to do it. We just wanted to finish the
tour."

Steve: "Wow."

Duff:
"It was kind of cool. I mean, it wasn't cool that we had to do it at
all. We put so much work into that band…but we had been through so
much… anguish is too dramatic of a word… but B.S. on that tour. And Scott
is a great guy… but he's just got this other demon that gets in the way
of him being a great guy. And it got in the way of us doing good
business. We were coming on late and he missed a couple of shows. We
had to cancel two tours. . . He's just got so many things…. 'cause I
have the same disease he has. In saying all this, I can make fun of
some things, like saying we went through some B.S. and it felt good to
have him step into the office. But all funning aside, he has the same
disease that I have and a lot of us have and that is alcoholism and
drug addiction. He is in a different stage of addiction than I am. I
don't use or drink, and I've done things to help me through life, and I
have a great life. There are some that are just less fortunate."

He’s also known for his brief stint with the band Velvet Revolver. After a five-year hiatus, the STP reunion tour kicked off at the Rock on the Range festival in May 2008. He was the frontman of the Grammy Award-winning supergroup Velvet Revolver during his time away from STP, but parted ways with the band on April 1, 2008. Weiland’s split from Velvet Revolver also led to his departure from his side-project band Camp Freddy. Weiland’s second solo album, Happy In Galoshes, will be released on November 25, 2008.He is known for his flamboyant and energetic onstage persona and for constantly changing his appearance and vocal style.

Much like Vampire Weekend way back when, the Internet seems to keep spitting them up again every so often. Its the provocative name, I'm sure.. All you bands out there can't take the naming business too seriously in the endless sea of band names.

The Muslims are from San Diego and ooh they'll be at the Echo this week. Some songs gathered from various sources below. Their music is tight though strangely easy on the ears for a "rock outfit."

I'd say the pick of the bunch is Extinction and its accompanying lo-fi video, seen here.
