Our team of crack journalists at SEMA have located the Jetta TDI Street concept, so we can now bring you some live shots of the car along with all of the assorted details. As we expected when we first heard that VeeDub was working up the concept, there are no powertrain changes to speak of. That’s not surprising given all of the development that went into making the TDI engine meet emissions standards in the U.S. and the fact that it’s a great engine just as it is. There are some mechanical changes to the underpinnings, though, with brakes and sway bars from the sporty GLI model and the wheels are alloys. On the bodywork front, a large gaping opening at the front makes the cars look like their racing siblings as do the extended rocker panels and rear valance. A sticker package completes the look.

Volkswagen hasn’t decided for sure whether to offer the concept for production. The German automaker will be polling for consumer reaction. We think it looks great, especially in the blue from the GLI, but would want to know just how close to $30K the automaker plans to sell it for.

Volkswagen Shows Off A Perfomance Concept Of Its New CC

Volkswagen’s newest sedan the CC has been getting great reviews across the automotive landscape. We weren’t surprised. With the newest Passat’s awesome chassis and a little more room for the designers to play with, VW might have created a knockout with this newest car.

Still, by retaining the regular Passat’s drivetrain, the CC isn’t gonna set any roads ‘a blaze. VW higher-ups want to gauge the publics interest in a performance version of the CC. So for this year’s SEMA show, Volkswagen has once again contacted VW performance gurus APR Tuning to transform their newest creation into something rather special.

APR took a standard 2.0-liter turbo CC as their base for the SEMA show car. For starters, an APR Stage 3 turbo was installed and tuned. The interesting part about this system is it’s adjustability on the fly. The kit allows you to choose three levels of output: Eco mode with 222 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, GT mode with 252 hp and 268 lb-ft and a Full Power mode unleashes 311 hp and 313 lb-ft onto the tarmac.

Brembo brakes and H&R coilover suspension helps keep things planted on terra-firma. On the looks front, a pearl gray paint job and custom interior trim keeps things understated and classy, while retaining that sporting edge which VW was after. Black leather Recaro seats spell business while shouting “this is a driver’s car!” to the world.

The revived Vw Scirocco may reach U.S. after all

The revived Scirocco sport coupe by Volkswagen AG may reach the US after all. Last March, Volkswagen said that it was not planning to make the Scirocco available to the US markets because it might diminish the sales of the Golf GTI. Another factor was that cars made in Europe, with the more stable Euro, becomes more expensive when it hits US markets.

However, the VW execs are rethinking their decision as enthusiasts and the popularity of Scirocco in Europe urge for the move after a 16-year unexpected break, said Steve Keyes, a spokesperson for Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. Furthermore, the dollar’s gain on the euro is insignificant. Photo gallery after the jump!

Keyes further said that Volkswagen is thinking about making available only a limited edition of the Scirocco to the markets in the US that would be equipped with greater horsepower and a steeper sticker price compared to the GTI.

“People are looking at: ‘Would it make sense? What are the volumes?’ and all that,” Keyes informed Automotive News at a press conference in Wolfsburg, Germany, last week. “There’s no real decision yet, but we’re now discussing whether maybe there’s another way to bring a Scirocco here, positioning it a little bit differently.”

This is not the first time that VW has sold limited-edition cars in the US. In 2004 the car manufacturer offered a high-performance, all-wheel-drive version of the Golf, identified as the R32; that version was available in the US for a year. After the redesign of its European counterpart, the R32 gave the US a repeat performance. There were 1,756 R32s sold in the United States in 2007.

Keyes said, “That’s the model we’ve chosen to take a look at for a special Scirocco. We’ve got some experience with that type of idea, and it’s been successful, so it would seem to make some sense to replicate that with the Scirocco.” This decision has not yet been given a timetable, Keyes said. The coupe is being built in VW’s factory in Setubal, Portugal, where it also manufactures the Eos.

All five models here are important milestones for their manufacturers. This site is ‘Indian’ so, considering the Indian Market, the Beamer and VW are our favourites.
