Once again another good episode, but I think the writers went a little overboard with Haku’s death. Before I get into that, let’s talk about Gato, who’s about to have his guys take Zabuza out since he’s too expensive to keep around.

Gato also kicks a dead Haku, and Naruto gets all pissed off, and demands that Zabuza do something about it. The thing is, why in the hell would Zabuza care about Haku now that he’s dead, when he didn’t give a snot about him when he was alive?

So it was no surprise to me that Zabuza turned his head the other way, and now Naruto is more pissed off than ever. He starts bitchin’ that Zabuza never let Haku have a dream of his own, and how it was so wrong to just kick him to the curb.

“But that’s the shinobi way Naruto, didn’t you know that?” Anyway, Zabuza thinks about this for a few moments, and starts crying, saying those words cut deep. Okay now, that’s a bunch of crap, Zabuza has been a self-centered jerk all this time, and now I’m supposed to believe that now in the end, he’s all choked up over Haku?

Now at this time, Zabuza decides to take off his mask, and I finally get to see that handsome face. Wait, what is this?

“ZABUZA, CAN YOU PLEASE PUT YOUR MASK BACK ON BEFORE I GET SICK?????” Of course he pays me no mind, but I’ve got a bottle of Mylanta in front of me just in case I start getting queasy. Now Zabuza arms are broken, but somehow he has enough ability to take Gato out.

Naruto loans him a knife, and miraculously, Zabuza is able to stab Gato and a bunch of guys with the knife in his mouth. Hmmmm, that must be a move that you pick up in ninja school, ’cause I’ve never seen that happen before!

Oh, did I tell you that Sasuke is alive? No, I’m not very thrilled about it, but at least Naruto will continue to have someone to hate. Anyway Gato’s goons decide to loot the village since a dead Gato can’t pay anyone. But, hey what’s this? All the villagers show up with Inari leading the way, and it’s about time!

Naruto and Kakashi get into the act by using their clone jutsus. Hey, I want one of those Kakashi clones, just as soon as they take a bath! After witnessing this, Gato’s goons wig out, then jump on a boat to make their escape.

Good, now I can end this review, well wait, Zabuza has the nerve to ask Kakashi for a favor, to die right along side Haku. Oh brother, “Zabuza, just die already, please.”

Before we start, let’s talk about this Anime/Magna sensation called Naruto. Naruto is about a hyperactive orange track suit wearing ninja named Naruto Uzumaki, who dreams of becoming Hokage of his village someday. However, it turns out that inside him is the legendary Nine-tailed fox demon, which causes many people to fear Naruto. Throughout this anime, Naruto will experience friendship, honor, betrayal, and love. Oh yeah, he says “Believe it!”, which annoys a lot of people (including me), as his catch line in the English version.

As you may know, Naruto games are very common these days. What isn’t common about this year’s Naruto games is that there’s a Naruto game coming out for the PS3 (Naruto; Ultimate Ninja Storm) and one for the X-Box 360(Naruto; Broken Bond). In other words, bitter console rival, ahoy!So, you might be asking yourself, “What’s the difference?”. Today, I’ll shine some light on the issue.

Story- Slight difference between the two games. Let’s talk about Broken Bond’s story. Broken Bond is actually a sequel to Naruto; Rise Of A Ninja released a year ago. Broken Bond will pick up where Rise of a Ninja left off and will contain the Return of Itachi and Sasuke Retrieval story arcs. However, Ultimate Ninja Storm story will start right at the beginning of the anime, which means it will cover the story arcs starting from the Exposition to Sasuke Retrieval (that’s a total of 135 episodes!). As you can read, both games will end at the same story arc.

Graphics- Not really that different. Both games will feature cel-shaded graphics. If you’re not familiar with cel shaded graphics, here’s a brief definition; cel-shaded graphics is a graphic style which 3d objects appears hand drawn. The name comes from the clear sheets of acetate, called cels, that are painted on for use in traditional 2D animation, such as Disney classics. Famous games that used cel-shaded graphics includes The Legend of Zelda; The Wind Waker and Okami. Both game uses the cel-shaded graphicc style to replicate that look and feel of the anime. However, it looks like Ultimate Ninja Storm graphics are much crisper and high res than Broken Bond.

Gameplay; Broken Bond- If there’s one category that both games are extremely different in, then it would be the gameplay category. Let’s talk about the gameplay in Broken Bond. Broken Bond. Like Rise of the Ninja; Broken Bond gameplay is story/RPG based. Unlike the first game, players will take up to three ninja at a time to follow them around and perform certain tasks. Specific characters now have powers that contribute to these tasks, such as Neji’s Byakugan to find enemy traps or Naruto’s Shadow Clones to get across a small valley. In addition, during a battle in story mode, in the middle of a battle, your character can be switched out with someone else from the team. Also, the game will feature an online multiplayer mode. You can choose among 25 characters and play alongside friends and defeat other teams online via Xbox LIVE. There’s even an online tournament mode!

Gameplay; Ultimate Ninja Storm- Unlike Broken Bond, Ultimate Ninja Storm focus will be one solo fight after fight. In fact, Ultimate Ninja Storm is actually a successor to the Naruto; Ultimate Ninja series released for the PS2. Ultimate Ninja will have context based mini games like in God of War or Kingdom Hearts 2. Also in Ultimate Ninja, there’s a new feature called “Awakening Mode”. While similar to the transformations of the previous Ultimate Ninja titles, this mode can only be activated when a character has less than 1 health meter remaining. The moment a characters’ health drops below approximately 1 bar the chakra meter receives an “Awakening Lamp”. Building a characters chakra to MAX and continuing to build chakra will light the lamp and enable Awakening Mode, making the character significantly more powerful with a new/extended move list and look (ex. “One Tailed Naruto Mode”) or merely raise their parameters / grant new abilities (ex. Kakashi’s “Sharingan Mode” auto substitution). Sadly, Ultimate Ninja Storm will not have an online multiplayer like Broken Bond, but it will have downloadable content available to make up for it.

What version should you go with?- Go with what ever one is on your system; there’s not much of a difference between them. However, I’m looking forward to the Ultimate Ninja Storm since the game looks like it will feature a lot more action than Broken Bond.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3

In contrast to our reviewers for the first two instalments in the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja franchise, I am not familiar with the Anime. I saw parts of episodes, perhaps even a full one, but I only know enough about the series to be able to drag a few names here and there. Against this background, I am sure that it is not surprising that most of the fan service - and men, there are a lot - Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 lost on me. However, I can appreciate a good fighter (although I don t get why we are fighting), and Ultimate Ninja 3 surprised me with its depth.

I had expected Ultimate Ninja 3 to a fighter with combos, my fingers dance around the controller, forcing me to remember complex button sequences ... and I was partly right. While the game uses all of the controller buttons, it also has one of the easiest melee combat-control systems I've ever seen, which each physical or combo attack on a series of D-Pad and Circle Button Combinations. Characters also share Combo model, so no matter whom you choose, you can always be sure that Up, Up, Circle, a special move. For someone like me, is a casual player of fighting games, this system works because it just complicated enough that it feels good to do a special move without an excessively huge learning process.

The fighting controls may sound overly simplistic, but they do not sell, Ultimate Ninja 3 short - the fight is a level of subtlety, if you bring the rest of the buttons in The Fray. They control functions that are necessary for the control of dominance, such as jumping, throwing weapons, or activating your chakra for ultimate. Trust me, when you factor in the arms and thrown aerial maneuvers, you will be thankful that the fight against melee Center on a single button.

During the fighting mechanics behind Ultimate Ninja 3 are solid, the narrative elements. The problem is not the story line - it's the inadequate amount of material to help outsiders familiar with the Naruto universe. The hero of the story mode - where players fight historic battles from the Anime - gives you the basic background story of Naruto and his companions, but not enough details to explain the relationships and conflicts between the characters. I never felt like I knew enough about all the characters, friend or foe, to care what happens to them, I can imagine, fans will enjoy, but for me, that's what makes the story difficult to read.

For fans, Ultimate Ninja 3 has a lot to offer. They learn in a series of mini (I assume that something to do with the anime), compete in Ultimate Contest mode - where the player takes Naruto through his village and is engaged in a series of battles and quests for other Ninjas - and collect money to purchase items from the series. It is not that these modes are terrible for the uninitiated. They are not only very attractive - kind of like fluff rather than content that I care.

Maybe I'm wrong and fans of the series will hate the modes that I have not found interesting ... but I doubt it. Not only will they get a good fighters, but they would also fight with any number of secondary modes, allowing them Immerse yourself in the Naruto universe again. Unfortunately, for those unfamiliar - or have an inexplicable hatred - Naruto, the largest part of the experience is wasted. Sure, you could run it for the fighters, but it is clear that a large part of the contents is for the fans.

Okay things start gettin’ really good about now. While holding a knife to Zabuza, Kakashi tells him that his reign of terror is over, and he’s finished. “Well that’s nice Kakashi, but you’ve spent way too much time standin’ there with a knife to Zabuza’s throat. You should have slashed that clown up instead of giving him a chance to strike back.”

Yes, since Kakashi wasted all that time talkin’ smack, Zabuza was able to turn the tables, on him, and Kakashi winds up in a water prison jutsu. “Zabuza, you jerk! How dare you ruin Kakashi’s wicked hairstyle!” Zabuza isn’t done though, he kicks Naruto into oblivion, then Sasuke gets owned too.

Naruto gets scared again, but remembers the vow he made upon his wound back in episode 6. You do remember what happened in episode 6, when Naruto promised never to run from a fight or to lose to Sasuke? Now Naruto starts having all these flashbacks (as if he has time for all that), and comes up with a plan.

Kakashi starts telling this story of how a much younger Zabuza killed off all the ninja students in his class in order to pass his final ninja exam. “Kakashi, we already know that Zabuza is a big jerk, but you really need to be tryin’ to find a way to get out of that water prison jutsu, instead of runnin’ off with the mouth, draggin’ Zabuza’s name through the mud.”

Now Zabuza attacks Sasuke, then Naruto uses his shadow clone jutsu, and they counterattack, but Zabuza is able to swipe them off. What’s this, Naruto has one more trick up his sleeve, what is it? He throws a shuriken to Sasuke, who turns and throws it at Zabuza.

Zabuza dodges it, but then here comes another shuriken, and he dodges that one too. But wait, it’s not a shuriken, it’s Naruto, and he’s ready to own, Go Naruto! Well that’s that…………… What? It’s not my fault that’s the end of that episode, but the next one is comin’ up shortly, and I can tell you this, you won’t be disappointed!
