Jason Taylor, Ex-Miami Dolphin...Good Bye

Mr. Jason taylor...you tackled...you cheered...you defended...you represented - you were an excellent Miami Dolphin. Yo are no longer with us but I want you to know I appreciate the play you unleased every sunday and monday, we Miami Dolphins will miss your exciting defensive play, and defensive leadership...Jason Taylor, I for one am already missing you - you certainly deserve the best any team can give you.

Previously, I had heard that Mr Bill Parcells(60 Minutes, interviews, etc...), that he “ is a controller”, “you can’t step on the kings toes”...but these type of comments could be the work of haters, he did make some enemies during his allustrious career, right? But now I’m thinking that maybe Mr, Parcells is a bit too bossy, maybe he should look alittle into the “control factor” he has with his players. Could Mr. Bill Parcells be too egotistical? I’m afraid he is the reason my Jason Taylor, and Zach Thomas are no longer Miami Dolphins. Man...this is tearing me apart. Bill Parcells I hope you know what you doing...i’m with you, you are a good coach but this move is scaring the mess out of me...

OK, yes, business is business but how could he release or offend Jason Taylor , or Jack Thomas, two of the most prolific tacklers and sackers in the NFL, how could they become meniacle all of a sudden?....I hear their trade value was the prime reason, but I suspect other things too...Jason Taylor and his partner, Zach Thomas loved their team - The Miami Dolphins.

Well, looks like I won’t get to revenge upon those NY Jets with Jason Taylor at the helm, or enjoy seeing him smile when the Miami Dolphins become an AFC championship team. Oh well, life goes on, good luck Jason Taylor.

One last thing, NY Jets, you better start running...we gonna get you still...run...run...run....

Miami Dolphins Preview

Few teams went through more of a turbulent offseason than the Miami Dolphins. They got a new Coach in Tony Sparano. They have a new QB in Chad Pennington. They are welcoming an old face back in Ricky Williams while the face of their franchise (Jason Taylor) was shipped out to the Nation’s Capital. His brother-in-law Zach Thomas left for Big D. Oh yeah, and The Tuna came to town.

Offensively Chad Pennington should give them stability if, and I repeat if, he can stay healthy. While he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm, he is an accurate passer with the ability to lead. Ernest Wilford was added to the mix and Ted Ginn, Jr. has a season under his belt. The Offensive Line should be better with the addition of #1 pick Jake Long at Left Tackle. They will employ a two-headed monster at RB with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, assuming they can both stay healthy and away from the sticky icky.

Defensively, they will have to establish a new identity with the departures of Taylor and Thomas. They will need more production from Channing Crowder, Vonnie Holliday and Rookie Phillip Merling. Joey Porter is dealing with back issues which will limit his availability and production. They were 4th in the league against the pass last year, but that’s simply because they had the league’s worst run defense last year and were behind in games for most of the year.

My outlook isn’t pretty for the Dolphins, although compared to last year’s one win, it will be a dramatic improvement. I’m putting them on 4-5 wins. It will still land them an early draft pick, but at least it’s a start.

Fantasy-wise I see a few options for the Fins. I think Ronnie Brown will be a serviceable RB as he recovers from that knee injury. I’d rank him as a 3rd RB at best at this point. Ricky WIlliams has been growing on me, and I think he makes a decent 3rd or 4th RB. I like Ted Ginn, Jr. as well, especially if your team awards points for his work in the return game. Other than that, I wouldn’t invest too heavily in Dolphins for your fantasy team.

Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland Mum on Zach Thomas’ Future in Miami

The Dolphins front office has plenty to keep themselves busy this off-season, starting with figuring out what to do with the first-overall pick in the April draft. But there’s also the issue of addressing the other gaping holes in the roster, deciding if the team will run the 4-3 or 3-4 defense, and, perhaps most importantly, if linebacker Zach Thomas is in Miami’s immediate plans.

A few weeks ago, I wondered if the Dolphins should trade Thomas and Jason Taylor, of for no other reason than both are on the downsides of great careers, and they’re still valuable enough to merit a few draft picks as compensation.

Anyway, here’s what new general manager Jeff Ireland had to say on the subject:

‘If I had the opportunity to talk to every player individually, I would certainly try to do that,” Ireland said. “I happened to call Jason [Taylor], I just wanted to reach out to him and say hello. I’ve talked to John. I haven’t reached out to Zach. …

Asked whether Thomas was in the Dolphins’ plans for 2008, Ireland said, “Right now, he’s on our roster, so we certainly have plans for him. In terms of tomorrow, the next day or six months down the line, we’re still in the process of analyzing who’s going to be a part of the future.”

Not exactly a resounding vote of confidence. Of course, general managers, particularly this time of years, are notorious for saying plenty but not really revealing much.

Even if Thomas has played his last game in Miami, I still think he’s got a few good years left. And knowing that sneaky bastard Bill Belichick, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Thomas end up with the Patriots. And do well.

RB Brown Out the Rest of 2007; Williams in Sight for Fins?

The Miami Dolphins 2007 season continues to be like a horror movie, as Monday the team learned that leading rusher Ronnie Brown will be missing the rest of the season with a knee injury. Brown was hurt in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Pats on a play in the third quarter. He will need surgery to repair a torn ACL after twisting the knee. “He was having a Pro Bowl season,” Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said. “There’s no doubt about it. … There’s a lot of resolve in this guy. He’s committed to getting this taken care of and coming back, coming back even stronger. He is an impressive, impressive young man.”

Brown was about the only bright spot for the 0-7 Dolphins, as he had rushed for 602 yards on 119 carries, averaging 5.1 yards per carry with four touchdowns. He also had 39 catches for 389 yards and one score through the air. He will be replaced by a variety of backs, including Jesse Chatman, Patrick Cobbs and Lorenzo Booker. “You don’t replace a Ronnie Brown,” Cameron said. “But you say, ‘These are the guys we have. How do we maximize the guys we have? Who are our best 11?”‘

Could Miami take a look during this season of torture at bringing back Ricky Williams? He is still under contract to the Fins, and right now he is awaiting word on being able to come back to the league. He applied for reinstatement back on October 1st. If Williams did get back in the league, it would be a TERRIBLE idea for Miami to sell out and bring him back. As bad as this season is right now, the team should simply ride out this year, keep the guys they have, and not even think about bringing Williams back.
