Plucking the Wings Off OJ Simpson

posted by beckychr007

The world certainly has changed for OJ Simpson. Today he was in a Las Vegas courtroom moaning that it was going to take a cash payment of $37,500 to get out of jail, and the court was not willing to accept any football cards.

My bell does not toll for OJ Simpson, but being a girl who never enjoyed pulling the wings off insects, I do not enjoy the public display of prosecutorial bullying.

Simpson was arrested last November on charges that he and a few of his unsavory friends went to retrieve some old football crap from a bunch of douches. Simpson claimed the stuff had been stolen from him.

Society would probably best be served if every single person involved in the incident was in jail, but with the exception of Simpson, none of them is much of a physical threat. But Simpson was given a pass by the dumbest jury in the history of California jurisprudence, whose stupidity was only exceeded by the prosecutors who tried the case.

As much as the world would like it, it is not right to expunge that stupidity by unleashing some publicity seeking mediocre prosecutors on him.

Originally Simpson was released on a $125,000 bond. Although this is perhaps the scummiest profession on the face of the planet, the bail bondsman was apparently star struck, and did not require that Simpson put up the initial 10 or 15% these low life money changers normally require.

The Nevada Court also imposed a rather unusual condition on Simpson's release. He is not permitted to contact any of his co-defendants. While courts obviously don't want criminal defendants contacting witnesses, there is usually no reason to prohibit discussion among co-defendants. They are in the same boat, and often have a mutual defense, and it does no harm for them to talk together about their preposterous excuses.

But this case is all about ratting out OJ Simpson. Several witnesses have either been given immunity or will serve no time for their involvement in the comically inept heist. In the end, the prosecutors not only plan to have the morally bankrupt “victims” testifying against him, but to bring in the co-defendants as well.

Snitching brings out the worst in people. The public would be shocked if they knew the extent to which it has perverted the criminal justice system. Prosecutors charge (or threaten) people and then , to save their hide, the guy turns state's evidence.

There really are not many stand up guys left. But in the rare case a criminal defendant actually goes to trial he can count on everyone, including his grandmother, being on the prosecutor's witness list.

Of course, most of these rats, snitches and stool pigeons are not people of the highest integrity at best, and their stories become even more questionable when the motive is avoiding a life bit.

But the jury usually takes the word of the rats, and convicts the defendant. And six or seven equally bad guys remain on the street.

I have wondered why juries do this. I guess it is because most of us live in little worlds so divorced from the things that happen in both the world of the defendants and the culture of the courts--both of which cynically view the good citizens of the juries as suckers, who can be manipulated and molded.

Anyway, Simpson left a voice mail message for one of his co-defendants last November. The prosecutors got wind of it and asked the court to revoke his bail. A few days ago he was shipped back to Las Vegas from Florida.

Today, Simpson's lawyer advised the court that he had found a bail bondsman who would accept the murder's moderately palatial home in Florida as collateral. But, after giving OJ a good chewing out, Her Honor insisted that 15% cash be paid upfront to the bondsman. She also raised the bond to $250,000. This obviously disconcerted OJ's lawyer, who apparently is not being paid for his representation.

While it was Simpson who stupidly gave them the opportunity, this is just a not uncommon incident of the system toying with a person, whom they were unable to nail once before.

God already has a special place reserved for OJ Simpson. The world is not going to be appreciably better because some Nevada lawyers have the means to toy with him.

But at least some municipal court judge got her day in the sun.

--------------------

P.S.--

If any of you would like to get a spanking from a genuine lesbian cowgirl trot on over and visit Starr Ann and follow the instructions.

~Becky

posted by beckychr007

First let me say I do not care if OJ Simpson is locked up for the rest of his life. Since he got away with murder, I will not loose a wink of sleep if he is convicted in the Vegas heist.

But, even better than the possibility of seeing a monster finally get his just dues, is that some light is being shed on the dirty secret of the American Justice System.

And that is rats and snitches--along with the life and death power which has been placed in the hands of mealy mouthed, power-hungry prosecutors.

I learned back in second grade not to be a tattletale, when my best friend Melanie caved in my face.

Like every elementary classroom in America, mine is not a bastion of due process. Nonetheless, I have no use for tattletales: “Teacher, Teacher Johnny is picking his nose.”

Even worse, is the deal where one is caught on the playground slugging one of his his little pals, and it is “he hit me first.”

But that is what we have going on in the OJ case. A bunch of nefarious characters, all as equally guilty as Simpson, and all getting immunity and released on personal recognizance. All because the prosecutors are determined to make a a name for themselves as the boys and girls that finally put OJ Simpson behind bars.

Of course, most of these rats are not people of the highest integrity at best, and their stories become even more questionable when the motive is avoiding a life bit.

But the jury usually takes the word of the rats, and convicts the defendant. And six or seven equally bad guys remain on the street.

I have wondered why juries do this. I guess it is because most of us live in little worlds so divorced from the things that happen in both the world of the defendants and the culture of the courts. Both of which cynically view the good citizens of the juries as suckers, who can be manipulated and molded.

It's quite disgusting.

In fact so disgusting I have to come down on the side of the sociopath.

I hope OJ wins.

------------------------------------------------

Shifting gears—calling all bloggers:

Today I saw on Rob's Yuck Yuck page one of those blog promotion things that I actually thought was worth more than a bucket of warm piss.

It is called Blog Rush.

In the right hand sidebar of my blog there is a widget for it.

Click the bottom of the Blog Rush widget or just this link, and you will get all the information.

There is an informational and instructional video, and a bunch of stuff I totally don't understand—but it sounds good, is free, and only takes about five minutes to sign up.

O.J. Simpson's friend claims he confessed to murdering his ex-wife, friend

posted by gaysocialites

According to a memorabilia dealer's upcoming book, O.J. Simpson admitted he killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Evidently O.J. was smoking pot and drinkin' with Mike Gilbert when he admitted that he killed his ex-wife and her friend.

Gilbert says Simpson told him, "If she hadn't opened that door with a knife in her hand ... she'd still be alive."

The story doesn't end there. Gilbert also says he helped O.J. bloat his hands so they wouldn't fit in the infamous isotoner gloves.

O.J.'s lawyer claims that none of the allegations are true and that Gilbert is "a delusional drug addict who needs money."

posted by sarfun
O.J. Simpson led 'military-style' raid
LAS VEGAS, United States (AFP) - O.J. Simpson led a gang of gun-toting men who stormed into a Las Vegas hotel to rob two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in "militarTestifying on the first day of a hearing that will determine whether Simpson stands trial on robbery and kidnapping charges, souvenir dealer Bruce Fromong said the disgraced sports star played a lead role in the alleged heist.

Simpson -- famously accused and later acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles in 1994 -- could be jailed for life if eventually convicted of robbery and kidnapping charges.

The 60-year-old has been charged with a string of felony offenses in connection with an incident in Las Vegas on September 13, when he and a gang of men allegedly swiped memorabilia worth 80,000 dollars from two dealers.

One of the dealers, Fromong, testified on Thursday about the moment when Simpson and his cohorts burst into his room at the Palace Station Casino.

Fromong told a packed courtroom at the Las Vegas Regional Justice Center that one of the men in Simpson's entourage pointed a gun at him during the chaotic confrontation.

"He stood probably 10 to 12 feet from me with a semi-automatic basically pointed at my face," said Fromong. "O.J. kept screaming, 'This is all my shit, it belongs to me.'"

"There was a lot of yelling and screaming going on and the first thing I remember was a statement from Mr. Simpson saying don't let anyone out of this room. Nobody leaves."

Simpson's lawyers have said their client is innocent of wrongdoing and that no guns were involved. Simpson has said he was recovering property that had been stolen from him.

Fromong testified however that the memorabilia -- which included three ties allegedly worn by Simpson during his 1995 murder trial -- had been obtained legally. "Everything that was in that room was mine," said Fromong.

Later Thursday, the court heard testimony from Thomas Riccio who had helped set up the meeting between Fromong and Simpson.

Riccio told the hearing how Simpson plotted the raid. "I have my boys here, we’re going to take care of it," Riccio said.

Thursday's hearing got underway amid circus-like scenes that evoked Simpson's "Trial of the Century" in Los Angeles 12 years ago.

A crowd outside the court included a man dressed in a chicken suit holding a sign proclaiming Simpson's guilt, while a woman on rollerskates in a rabbit costume held a banner that read: "Stop police brutality."

Since Simpson's arrest in September three associates initially accused of involvement in the case have agreed to testify against Simpson.

The three men -- Charles Cashmore, Walter Alexander, and Michael McClinton -- are expected to tell the court that guns were used in the incident and that Simpson played a leading role in organising the alleged heist.

The trio of plea deals has tightened the case being built against Simpson and two other men involved, Clarence Stewart and Charles Ehrlich. All three face charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.

One of the most famous American football players of his generation during a glittering 1970s career, Simpson was the prime suspect in the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman.

Simpson, who has always vehemently denied the killings, was acquitted of murder after a racially charged Los Angeles trial in 1995, a verdict that was greeted with widespread outrage across America.

y invasion fashion", a court heard on Thursday.

WHERE WILL OJ REST HIS HEAD?

posted by kruise

A double mystery surrounds OJ Simpson’s arrival any moment today for tomorrow’s downtown court hearing into the Sept 13 alleged armed robbery he masterminded at the Palace Station. Mystery because of two factors:

1) He’s just claimed the Los Angeles FBI office knew about his raid to retrieve his football memorabilia three weeks in advance but didn’t let Vegas police in on the “sting.”

2) No hotels in town want him as a guest during the court-case, fearing his presence and multiple media crews from around the world will harm other guests!

It all starts tomorrow folks, and how it all turns out is literally anybody’s guess. Already, half the group he recruited while at the circular center bar of the Palms have copped pleas and will testify against the fallen football legend. Simpson is scheduled for the preliminary hearing tomorrow on nine felonies and one gross misdemeanor charge including kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, plus an additional felony charge of coercion in connection with the alleged removal of a cell phone. Michael McClinton, a Vegas security guard who brought his guns to the raid, will testify against OJ, joining with Walter Alexander from Phoenix who was once OJ’s best friend and golfing partner, and Charles Cashmore.

My friend, writer Steve Freiss who will be in court tomorrow for the New York Times and Agence France-Press, interviewed executives at Harrah’s, MGM and Station Casinos—which owns the Palace Station where OJ perpetrated his heist—for a Newsweek article and reported “no room at the inn.” OJ is already unwelcome at the Palms where he stayed when he came in for the raid. He has “no friends, not even in low places,” screamed the Newsweek headline.

Michael Weaver for Harrah’s said: “There’s no positive public relations to be obtained by it, so the answer is a pretty firm, ‘no.’”

At MGM, PR chief Alan Freidman noted: “We would be unable to accept a hotel reservation because of the operational challenges that the crush of media would likely present.”

That media invasion begins today with an onslaught of TV anchors, cable TV reporters, video cameramen, photographers and print journalists from around the world. Special parking zones are being set up downtown to handle the crush and police are warning locals to stay away from the downtown court areas.

The 60-year-old Simpson will be defended by Yale Galanter who has denied all the accusations against his client, and last night shocked legal analysts when he revealed they will not present any defense witnesses at this preliminary hearing. Instead, he will confine this week’s court time to grilling (read: “destroying”) eight prosecution witnesses under intense cross-examination, following their testimony. Coverage will run wall to wall around the clock 24/7—and we’ll all wind-up wishing OJ had never come to Vegas in the first place. It just doesn’t put us in a good light. We don’t need this kind of coverage and we certainly didn’t ask for it.
