Scene hairstyles, which are also called emo hairstyles, are very trendy. Scene hairstyles are all about originality and self-expression. Girls usually have dark, choppy hair with dramatic side bangs, while guys typically have spiky, dyed hair as well, or even a faux hawk. Get great scene hairstyle ideas and pictures here.

Male Scene Hairstyles

It's really not hard to get a sweet male scene hairstyle. By popular request, I've compiled some of the most helpful youtube videos on the subject, and added a few helpful tips and tricks.

According to the kids at EmoworldTV, these are some of the hottest male scene hairstyles on the streets:

Notice any patterns?

All the guys in this video have medium-length long hair. If you want a nice scene style cut, you're going to need something to work with. Grow your hair out, and make sure to start using conditioners that leave your halr feeling soft---even if your hair's so short you think it doesn't make a difference. In the event that you dye your hair (and if you're really into these styles, you probably will), you want to make sure your hair's in excellent condition in order to prevent excessive damage.

This is what damaged hair looks like, FYI: fried.  You don't want that. linked from hairrepair.com

Your hair may reach some funky stages in the grow-out process, but don't freak out, accessorize. There are tons of sweet hats and hoodies out there for guys. Pete Wentz goes everywhere with some sort of cap:

If you haven't seen the movie, do. It's crazy fashionable.

Once you have the right length, you can either a) head to a salon and ask for a cut that leaves longer layers up around your face or b) create a style based on what you have to work with.

Since scene hairstyles are all about individuality, it isn't hard to find a look that works. You can of course experiment with color (if there are dress-code rules against permanent dyes you can pick up Streekers at any Spencer's Gifts--it washes right out). Most scene hairstyles involve straight hair, which can be achieved with a blow dryer or a flat iron (for instructions on how to use those, see youtube). Some of the boys in the video above just ran some sort of styling wax (I've heard the cheap Garnier brand you can find in drugstores works great) through straightened hair and experimented with different shapes, while others used product to keep hair close to their heads.

For a taller scene hairstyle, you need to learn how to add volume. Don't worry, it's not rocket science. Most scene hairstyles for guys involve more volume near the back of the head.  These are just a few of the many videos that provides instructions on which products to use to get hair to stand up.
