wake up congress
Here you can post about how congress should wake up and start doing things about the issues that affect us all.
Medical Marijuana - can we get real?
Medical marijuana - the facts.
Someone you know has cancer, HIV-AIDS, or any medical condition involving chronic pain and/or discomfort and that person tells you that smoking (or eating) marijuana helps them in a way that their prescribed medication doesn’t do you believe them? Of course you do! Who’s the better judge, you or them?
You know for a fact that prior to their illness this person was not a regular marijuana or cannabis user ( if a user at all) but now is, or wants to be.
What are you going to say to them? “Sorry Ma, it’s against the law so just grit your teeth”. Or: “Don’t smoke something that grows naturally. Pay for chemical drugs from some multi-billion company based in Switzerland for tax reasons! You know it’s the right thing to do”
Crikey! I’m going to have to write another post when I’ve calmed down about the pure hypocrisy of the current way of the world. We won’t give our expensive drugs to 3rd world countries even though doing so would save millions of lives PLUS we don’t want you ingrates smoking stuff that grows naturally. Oh no, we have our shareholders to consider. Hmmmm, wonder who those shareholders might be….
Are you going to adopt the stance of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney? Simply state that you are ‘against’ medical marijuana and walk away from a wheelchair bound guy without answering his question? The question being whether he and his doctor, who prescribed marijuana to help him, would be likely to be arrested under this Romney’s potential administration.
Are you the sort of person that could refuse to look that guy in the eye and tell him why his use of medical marijuana to relieve his symptoms and pain was misinformed and wrong? Old Mitt ain’t that kind of guy that’s for damn sure. He didn’t answer the question and simply walked away from what he saw as dangerous territory and an embarassing conversation.
When will federal governmet stop the pogrom on medical marijuana users who are not breaking their State's laws?
It’s not about being soft on drugs. It’s not about the ‘thin end of the wedge’. It’s about helping thousands of people of all ages, of all backgrounds to have a better quality of life. Who the heck are these politicians who decide on that? “I’m against medical marijuana” - can you not see how this stand alone statement is simply ridiculous. It has to be followed by “…because”. If it’s not? Well to heck with you pal!
I don’t care what your political leanings are, but to just fall back on the ‘anti-drug’ argument to justify the current ludicrous state of affairs is simply the action of a scoundrel and charlatan, a faker who is incapable of a real emotion.
Explain to the guy, in the chair, why you believe he should suffer more than he has to due to unfair and antiquated drug laws. At least if he’d done that Romney would have my respect, even though I would have disagreed with him - but no, he ran away. Sheesh, what a loser! Time will confirm that loser mantle I suspect.
But here’s the point. The people that are making, or upholding, these inane, insane decisions re the use ( or not) of medical marijuana are not informed in the realities of its efficacy. They are making decisions, judgements and laws simply as to what they see and feel are politically correct expediencies. The only way they could be truly informed would be if they ever needed it themselves and, man, you’d never see a faster U-turn if that was the case.
Morphine is a banned drug yet it’s prescribed to those poor souls who are dying in pain. Morphine, rightly, is a banned drug. Do you have to be dying to be prescribed pain relief? So why can’t marijuana be a medically prescribed drug too?
God damn them all! This prescribed medical marijuana issue is a totally separate one from a generalized ‘Legalize Pot’ campaign.
This is Federal government seeking to over-ride State law (when allowing the use of medical marijuana has been sensibly in place in 12 US states at time of writing) to make sure that anyone taking marijuana for medical reasons is a criminal. It’s clowns like Romney not being able to look a guy in the eye. It’s a nanny state. It’s, “Your body belongs to us!”.
It’s BOLLOCKS!
I find it hard to write this as I get so incensed. The knowledge that people of all ages and backgrounds are choosing a life of pain and discomfort purely because they are law abiding citizens and therefore won’t seek to buy something that can relieve their pain. Come on! Can you honestly argue that this is right?
By the way this is not a political issue for me, I’m an Englishman living in France and won’t be voting in the US elections. I guess I just detest politicians who won’t address the real issues, whatever country or party they represent.
That is why I’m so pleased to promote an alternative to marijuana that these SOB’s can’t legislate against as, for now, at least it’s legal. Try it and see…
