What mystery lies behind "The Gates" -- an idyllic seeming private community that really is a hotbed of secrets? "For me, it is somewhere between 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Twilight,' which is what attracted me to this script," says Frank Grillo, who stars as Nick Monohan, "The Gates"' new police chief. "I have done a lot of TV and played a lot of cops. This seemed like an idea that, although the genre was not new, it was fresh in its approach. 'The Gates' is this mysterious place, where you think it is Rockwellian and everybody is successful and happy on the outside and Stepford-ish, and when you get inside the gates and they close, it is a whole different world."
