The Fight with Brooks
While writing Young Frankenstein together, Wilder and Brooks got into a fight in Wilder's apartment. Brooks threw a huge temper tantrum, yelling and raging and eventually storming out into the street. After a short time, Wilder's phone rang and Brooks was on the other end. He said, "Who was that madman you had in your house!? I could hear the yelling all the way over here!! You should never let crazy people into your house, don't you know that!!? They could be dangerous!!" That was Mel's way of apologizing, according to Wilder.
