A nailbiter of a match came to an end today in penalty kicks, with Paraguay advancing out of the round of 16 after defeating Japan. Paraguay is now one of the three South American countries advancing to the quaterfinals.

It's the first time that Paraguay has advanced past the round of 16. During penalty kicks, Paraguay converted all attempts. Japan's Yuichi Komano struck the crossbar during Japan's third attempt, sealing Japan's fate.
Paraguay will now face either Spain or Portugal on Saturday in Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
