1. Kesha Fights the Good Fight
Our journey starts with Kesha, whose fight against sexual harassment began in 2014, and spilled over into 2017. Kesha filed a civil suit against her manager, Dr. Luke, for emotional distress, gender-based hate crimes, and employment discrimination. While the "Praying" singer was far from the first to be targeted by her male employer, she was brave enough to confront Luke and his behemoth parent company, Sony, in what turned out to be a very long public battle. She's since said the suit has taxed her both emotionally and financially, and her fight to be released from the label (and Dr. Luke) is ongoing.
