Time may be a flat circle on True Detective, but on Doctor Who, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff. Of course, that has a whole lot of implications for the ol' space-time continuum. Right now, though, we're fixated on the fact that it means any guest star from the beloved BBC show's run can — and in some cases, should — return.

Showrunner Steven Moffat agrees. "It's never, ever closed off," he told Zap2it when asked about the possibility of fan favorites Jack Harkness and River Song ever hitching another ride on the TARDIS. "It's all about, 'Do you have a story that's worth it?' Both River Song and Jack Harkness are massive characters in Doctor Who mythology. Their returns would have to be seismic, not routine."

We're right there with you, Moffat. And if you're interested in adding any other seismic characters from Doctor Who yesteryear, here are our picks:

    Sally Sparrow

Carey Mulligan may be a fancy, Oscar-nominated actress now, but we'd love to see her return for another round with the Weeping Angels. (Maybe Larry can come, too.)

John Barrowman's character was so beloved he got his own spinoff, Torchwood. But that's off the air, so now what? He's got a lot of living left till the Face of Boe, if you know what we mean.

    Craig Owens

James Corden may also be too busy for a jaunt down to the Doctor Who set, what with landing a plush late-night gig on CBS, but we demand more Craig — and especially more Stormageddon.

    River Song

Hey, did anyone else feel like River's full potential got a little muddled during the back half of the 11th Doctor era? No, just us? Well, whatever your feelings, Alex Kingston is a badass goddess, and the space-time continuum would be improved by her presence.

    Canton Delaware

Mark Sheppard is practically a folk hero of science fiction, popping up on everything from The X-Files to BSG, and we'd like him — and his husband — to pop right back on Doctor Who, please.

    Mickey Smith

Oh, Mickey. The companion of the companion eventually ditched his humble beginnings, marrying Martha and becoming a freelance alien hunter. And you just know the adventures of Mickey and Martha, married alien hunters, would make such a great episode.

Look, we get it: a robot dog isn't "cool" anymore, but it's been four seasons and one doctor since we've seen the clacky rascal on Doctor Who. Enough is enough. Bring back the dog.

Is this our way of also requesting Neil Gaiman return to the Doctor Who writers' room (or however that works)? Maybe. We just know the unstoppable combination of Suranne Jones' kooky, poignant TARDIS and Gaiman's writing was a match made in timey-wimey heaven.

You guys know about Georgia Moffett, right? Not only is she the real-life daughter of the Fifth Doctor and the real-life wife of the Tenth Doctor, she also played the Doctor's daughter back in Season 4. While the Doctor thought she had died, she actually is still out there somewhere in space, waiting to return. Let's make that happen.

That's who we want to see return — who do you want? Let us know in the comments!
