Cooper apologized for the incident and clarified that his "this is so stupid" comment duing the laugh-fest was directed at himself and not the holiday. “I said it was stupid because it’s stupid that a grown man giggles like a 13-year-old girl meeting Justin Bieber for the first time,” he quipped.

The host also tried to make amends by inviting Eddy Dobosiewicz, the co-founder of Buffalo’s Dyngus Day Celebration, to appear on the program. “Although you have upset many, many people here in Western New York and throughout the land, we accept your apology,” Dobosiewicz said before he invited Cooper to become the Pussy Willow Prince during next year's Dyngus Day festivities.
