Katy Perry Causes Satanic Panic With Her 'Dark Horse' Grammys Performance
(Getty Images)The world finally caught a glimpse of that so-called "dark side" Katy Perry claims to have during the 2014 Grammy Awards, where the performer was joined by rapper Juicy J for a sexed up rendition of "Dark Horse." Perry, who caused quite the controversy when she chose to perform at the American Music Awards in Asian-face last year, tapped into the song's spooky theme with a witchy production involving broomsticks, light up crosses, and hellfire. Naturally, people are now wondering if these are all signs of involvement with the Illuminati. Naturally.
Katy's noted in interviews that the cult '90s horror movie The Craft was a major inspiration behind the song, so her choice of staging wasn't a huge surprise to anyone who's actually paid attention to the song's lyrics. Still, the over-the-top production managed to get people talking on Twitter.
I'm like 99% sure Katy perry just summoned satan during her performance— Chantal Herrera (@Chanteeezzy) January 27, 2014
Did anybody else feel the utter presence of Satan during Katy Perry's performance? That was awful. #GRAMMYs— Chelsy Carlson (@chelsycarlson) January 27, 2014

The funny thing is that as far as pop divas go, Katy is about as Christian as they come. Raised by ministers in Santa Barbara, Perry likes to tell people that talking in tongues was a relatively common occurrence in her household. She even has the word "JESUS" tattooed to her wrist. So the chances of her involvement in some scary new world order deal are pretty slight, although it would be very interesting to learn how her family feels about all of this.
Just when I try to brush the illuminati off here comes Katy Perry with Baphomet everywhere👹😳— Josie Stokes (@josie_stokes) January 27, 2014
UPDATE: Apparently Perry recently told Marie Claire that she is no longer a Christian: “I’m not Buddhist, I’m not Hindu, I’m not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God ... I pray all the time — for self-control, for humility. There’s a lot of gratitude in it. Just saying ‘thank you’ sometimes is better than asking for things.”
