5 Key Differences Between the Old 'Outlander' Poster and the New One
Like remember when Frank was in the picture? Because he's literally out of it now.
The end is finally nigh, Outlander fans! After a cold and interminable winter without Claire and Jamie, the mid-season premiere is less than a month away. Starz, in a (successful) attempt to stir us from our hiatus slumber, has released a gorgeous new poster for the upcoming episodes, one that handily mirrors the poster released for the first eight episodes — with five crucial differences. The Reaching Hand
In the original image, the hand clearly belonged to Frank Randall, the husband Claire inadvertently left behind in the first episode. In the new image, the hand is Jack Randall's, Frank's pretty-much-evil ancestor.

Claire's Intent
A big crux of the story is if Claire will return to Frank (and her own time period) if she has a chance. That dilemma was represented handily in the original poster, but in the new poster, that conflict has been supplanted by the much more immediate threat of Jack Randall — a threat Claire and her knife are more than ready to meet.

Jamie's Focus
Like Claire, Jamie now has more to worry about in the new poster, especially considering the fact that he and Jack have a long and very unpleasant history together. But there's also something else we can see here: Jamie no longer is worried about Claire staying. They're a team now.

Just another piece of evidence that Claire is acclimating more and more to her new home. Part of it's practical because she stuck out like a sore thumb before, but we like to think the change is symbolic as well.

Something darker this was comes. As fans of the book know, Jamie and Claire are headed for some grim times. The murky, moody lighting of the new poster reflects what's to come — and we're so ready for it.
