Carrie Prejean was fired from her Miss California USA duties in June. Pageant Executive Director Keith Lewis cited Prejean's difficult attitude and missed appearances as reason for letting her go. But Prejean is convinced that the real reason is because of her Christian beliefs, which she refused to keep quiet about.
The lawsuit claims that both Lewis and pageant co-director and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler told her not to mention God on her Miss USA application or while appearing in her official capacity as Miss California USA. This was before Prejean cited religion while stating her belief that gay marriage is wrong at the Miss USA pageant.
Prejean's attorney, Chuck LiMandri, says there is no proof that Prejean missed any appearances, and he's convinced the real reason Prejean was fire was her beliefs.
"I wanted to give them every opportunity to provide the basis for those claims," LiMandri said.
