Getty ImagesFour years and two kids later, Jessica Simpson is married! The blonde and former NFL star fiancé Eric Johnson got hitched Saturday evening near Santa Barbara and, of course, it was a night to remember — especially because it followed an epic Fourth of July barbecue the night before.
The festivities included celebrities, cute kids, Beach Boys music, a gorgeous backdrop, and more. Here's what we know about the newlyweds' big day, so far:
1. They're as happy as can be.
The newlyweds released a statement to People after tying the knot. "We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment," they said. "To say 'I do' in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives." Awww.
2. The bride didn't wear pink.
Jessica was rumored to be have chosen a pink Marchesa gown for her big day, but she wore a custom Carolina Hererra gown down the aisle. There will likely be pictures sprouting up all over the Internet in the days to come, but, so far, we have to use our imagination. The bride has been looking fantastic over the last few months, so she surely made a stunning bride.
3. Ace and Maxwell were in the ceremony.
This wedding was a family affair! The couple's son Ace, 1, served as ring bearer and Maxwell, 2, was
a flower girl. She walked down the aisle with her cousin Bronx, Ashlee Simpson's son. The Instagram pictures of these kids are completely adorable, so we can only imagine how precious they all looked gussied up.
4. All sorts of celebs attended.
The guest list included over 250 people, including celebs like Ashlee Simpson, her husband-to-be Evan Ross, Jessica Alba, Topher Grace, CaCee Cobb, and Donald Faison. These stars all stood by while the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" played and Simpson walked down the aisle.
5. Their wedding venue has serious history.
The nuptials went down at the very place that John F. Kennedy and new bride Jackie had their honeymoon, the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif. The first hotel on the property was built in 1892, after it was first a sanctuary for Franciscan monks then a citrus ranch, and famous guests included Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Bing Crosby back in the day. In 2000 the venue changed hands again and was completely renovated. Now it covers 500 acres and has 41 guest cottages — where at least some of Simpson's 250+ guests will likely stay.
sanysidroranch.com These two got engaged back in November 2010 after meeting through mutual friends then kept having to put the wedding on hold because of Simpson's back-to-back pregnancies. "I definitely look forward to the day that I can look into his eyes and make that commitment that we both really long for," Simpson said last year. "He's just got to stop knocking me up!"
