It's going to be an exciting year for Benedict Cumberbatch and his bride-to-be — they're expecting! The big update comes two months after the couple announced their plans to marry in a paid-for classified ad.

"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon," the actor's rep said in a statement.

Before the baby news broke, the couple walked the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival last weekend and there was hardly any sign of a bump.

You probably know everything there is to know about Mr. Cumberbatch, so let's get to know his baby mama:

  • 1

    She does it all.

Hunter is a theatre and opera director, playwright, actress, and singer. She's no slouch, that's for sure. She's won numerous awards for her theater writing and directing and she put out a French-language music album in 2005, for starters.

  • 2

    She's an Oxford graduate.

The future Mrs. Cumberbatch studied French and Italian at Oxford University, then she studied avant-garde theatre for two years in Paris. She's also studied in NYC at the Saratoga International Theatre Institute.

  • 3

    She has a famous ex-boyfriend.

Hunter's sculptor ex-boyfriend Conrad Shawcross was one of London's most popular young artists when they dated in the mid-2000s. The two met at Oxford and lived in a warehouse-turned-studio before calling it quits.

  • 4

She met her future husband on the set.

These two found love on the set of the 2009 thriller Burlesque Fairytales.

  • 5

She's worked with Reese Witherspoon (and so has he).

Hunter's breakout role was in 2004's Vanity Fair, alongside the gorgeous Oscar winner. It's unclear if the gals have remained in contact over the last decade, but, funny enough, Cumberbatch kissed Witherspoon for a New York Times short film in late 2014.
