Ryan Lochte is a man of many talents. The Olympic swimmer knows how to work it on the dance floor, put his definition of "player" into good practice, and shows off his Adonis hot bod for the ladies — and all this before jumping into a pool and undergoing a full day of rigorous swim practice. But, did you know that Lochte's dimwitted displays also have the sheer capacity to make morning news anchors cry?
Recently, the reality TV star chatted via satellite with the hosts of Good Day Philadelphia to promote his new show What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, set to premiere on April 21 on E!. The interview started pretty casually with Lochte assuring the anchors that he's more than your average training-eating-sleeping Olympian. He also shoots hoops, parties, drinks, hangs out with the fam, and even skateboards a little bit.
Things start to get a bit awkward when anchor Mike Jerrick, who seemed pretty amused by Lochte the entire time, asks the swimmer “what kind of line” a woman could use to reel him in. Lochte responds with silence, speechless for six whole seconds, and six whole seconds is an awfully long time on live TV.
After Lochte signs off, Jerrick and his co-host Sheinelle Jones could not contain their teary-eyed laughter. “Seriously,” asked Jerrick when Lochte’s feed went dead, “how are they gonna get enough material? What was the question that stumped him?”
It was a simple question about how he works his game. Come on, Lochte, all you had to do was respond with a simple "jeah" to buy yourself some thinking time. Things might have been all gravy if you did.
