Joni Mitchell 'Squelched' the Idea of Taylor Swift Playing Her in a Movie

A couple years ago there were rumors Taylor Swift was in talks to star in a Joni Mitchell biopic. Those rumors were met with incredulousness on the part of Mitchell fans and a blank look from Swift fans, which we figured was probably a motivating factor in sweeping the whole thing under the rug and moving on. Fast forward to Sunday's issue of The Sunday Times, and Mitchell shed a little bit of light on the situation.

"I squelched that," she told the paper. "I said to the producer, 'All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones.' It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes."

So there you have it, Joni Mitchell was not down with Taylor Swift playing her in a movie, and it sounds like she didn't like the script either.

"There’s a lot of nonsense about me in books ... assumptions, assumptions, assumptions," she said.

Since those initial rumors circulated, Taylor has experimented a little more with acting, appearing in this year's adaptation of The Giver, which we're guessing was a little more challenging than playing herself on New Girl.
