Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift are Having Words Over This Year's MTV Video Award Nominations, and it's Breaking Our Hearts

Come on, guys. You're on the same team, remember?

Nicki Minaj's smash-hit "Anaconda" won't have a chance at winning MTV's 2015 Video of the Year, because it wasn't nominated. At all.

Needless to say, Nicki is not pleased, and she's got a lot to say about it. As a matter of fact, at the time this story was published, she'd tweeted (and retweeted) about it a full 45 times.

Though "Anaconda" was nominated for both Best Female Video and Best Hip-Hop Video, a Video of the Year nod escaped the artist.

She had a very distinct idea as to why that is.

Given that the 2015 Video of the Year nods went to Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift/Kendrick Lamar, Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Ed Sheeran, it's (sadly) difficult to argue that Nicki was not calling out Taylor with the above statement - a fact that Taylor acknowledged.

Taylor's tweet has now been deleted.

Nicki fired back, however, pointing out that she didn't name names.

And proceeded to elaborate as to why she thought "Anaconda" deserved its nod.

Eventually, however, the artist addressed the impression she'd given, and made it very clear that she hadn't meant to demonize Taylor. Instead, she'd intended to draw attention to a serious issue.

It's certainly true that "Anaconda" was a formidable force. Myriad parodies of the track accompanied a nearly 500 million YouTube views.

Still though, it's notable that as compared to those videos actually nominated for Video of the Year, "Anaconda" is both significantly more sexual and not technically a fully original song, two strong possibilities for its snub.

Nicki's anger rages on, but it's doubtful the seemingly misplaced vitriol will do more good than harm.

We really don't need anymore "Bad Blood."
