On Tuesday, Covergirl devotees Latifah and Ramirez unveiled the cosmetics company's latest endeavor: the Clean Makeup for Clean Water Campaign. Ramirez, who was born in the Dominican Republic, already voyaged to her home country to deliver a year's supply of clean water to a village in need. The trip was part of Covergirl's pledge to donate $500,000 to Children’s Safe Drinking Water.
Ramirez told People, "This program is especially important to me as I know firsthand that unsafe drinking water is a matter of life or death. When I was growing up in the Dominican Republic, we had to boil our water before drinking it so we didn’t get sick or worse."
Covergirl's website also features a new contest, which invites women to submit video entries detailing how they hope to make the world a better place. The winner will travel to Africa for the next leg of the Clean Water campaign.
