Christina Aguilera And Demi Lovato Killed Their Feminist Duet At The 2018 Billboard Music Awards
The singers teamed up to perform their powerful new song, 'Fall in Line.'
Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato came together at Sunday’s 2018 Billboard Music Awards to perform their new duet, "Fall in Line." The song, which appears on Aguilera's new album, Liberation, is an energetic tune dedicated to inner strength. Considering Lovato's progressive, empowering history of tracks ("Cool for the Summer," "Confident," "Sorry Not Sorry") and Aguilera's equally as inspirational songs ("Fighter," "Can't Hold Us Down") there couldn't have been a better duo to bring "Fall in Line" to the public.
During the performance, the ladies worked with male backup dancers to illustrate the battle for gender equality. They dressed in matching black patent trench coats and high boots.
Here's a little taste of the badass lyrics:
"It’s just the way it is / And maybe it’s never gonna change / But I got a mind to show my strength / And I got a right to speak my mind / And I’m gonna pay for this / They’re gonna burn me at the stake / But I got a fire in my veins / I wasn’t made to fall in line / No I wasn’t made to fall in line."
On Thursday, May 17, Aguilera shared a picture of Lovato and herself dressed in black and kneeling on a field of flowers.
Lovato posted a different image of the two in the same outfits.
"Nothing but excitement to share the stage with this legend," she wrote.
The performance was such a hit that celebrity guests like Tyra Banks couldn't help but freak out.
Same, girl. Same.
