Derek Jeter hasn't missed a Yankees playoff game since 1995, but the team is going to be without one of their big stars for the next three months after he fractured his ankle in Saturday night's game.

It was the top of the 12th inning in the game against the Detroit Tigers when Jeter tried to make a diving play and hurt his ankle. He was escorted off the field in obvious agony and doctors later determined it was a fracture.

Jeter is expected to be out for the next three months, which is a bummer as the Yankees navigate the post-season, but the injury isn't supposed to affect his career in the long-term. That's good news, at least, right?

The rest of the Yankees will play game 2 in the series against Detroit this afternoon.
