Drew Gordon, UCLA Starting Center, Will Leave Team, Transfer Next Quarter

The announcement came through a weekly press conference today and coach Ben Howland did not cite any specifics about why his player is leaving.

Howland said he and Gordon, who averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds a game, discussed the move over the past few weeks, so it's not a sudden decision. "This is not a spur-of-the-moment thing," Howland said.
The Bruins lost all 3 of their games this weekend in the 76 Classic. Freshman Reeves Nelson will fill the gap left by Gordon, sources said. "He has a lot to learn and he knows this," Howland said. "This is going to increase his playing time dramatically."
