Elle Fanning Is Bloody Gorgeous In First Images from 'Neon Demon'
Nicolas Winding Refn's new movie will have something to do with cannibal supermodels.
With movies like Drive and Valhalla Rising, Nicolas Winding Refn's career so far has proven his talents for beautiful visuals that stick in your mind for days, and for visceral violence that, unfortunately, also sticks with you for days. It looks like he's combining both yet again in his next movie, The Neon Demon. The first pictures teasing the film went online today, and they're definitely provocative.
In the first picture (top), Refn sits next to the movie's star, Elle Fanning, who sits on a fancy couch impeccably groomed and styled with her throat slit. The second image just shows how pretty she looks in neon light. So what's it all about?
Refn has revealed very little about Neon Demon's story. So far we know it was influenced in part by Elizabeth Bathory, one of history's most prolific serial killers, and the myth that she consumed young women to retain her beauty. In Neon Demon, Fanning is just such a young woman whose beauty inspires several jealous, slightly older models to plot against her. While we don't know much about their roles, we do know the supporting cast includes Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone, and Keanu Reeves.
The Neon Demon is still filming in LA, and Refn is looking to release it sometime next year.
