It is now legal for same-sex couples to get married in the United Kingdom, and there's at least one superstar planning to take advantage of the change in legislation: Performer Elton John.

In an interview with Today, John revealed that he is planning a "low-key" wedding with his longtime love David Furnish, a Canadian filmmaker with whom he has two sons.

"For this legislation to come through is joyous and we should celebrate it," John insisted. "We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we're not going to bother to get married'. We will get married."

Furnish told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he and his future husband want to keep the ceremony relatively quiet, with just their sons and a couple of witnesses sometime in May.

But let's be real: Elton John knows how to throw a party, and we're guessing he'll want to celebrate the joyous occasion with a blowout somewhere down the line.

The question is: When you're a living legend, which of your famous friends do you call on to sing at your nuptials?

We've assembled some helpful suggestions for superstar wedding singers, along with pros and cons for each. Who would you want crooning during you and your beloved's first dance, if you had infinite options?

When you're as famous as Elton John, you've got a couple of options.

    Lady Gaga

Gaga is godmother to one of Elton's sons and a dear, dear friend. She'd do a great job on the keys, but Elton would have to be very clear with her about the venue's dress code.

    Adele

Adele's been out of the spotlight for a while now, but it would be particularly joyous to see her return to the microphone on such a happy occasion. Too bad she tends to prefer sad songs.

    Billy Joel

Elton and Billy have had their issues over the years (John once called Joel an alcoholic in an interview), but the former touring partners seem to have resolved their differences. And Joel has a great repertoire of love songs.

The chances of this happening are slim to none, but oh, would it be entertaining! Elton and Madonna have traded barbs in the press a few times, notably when John told an interviewer that the Material Girl looked like a "fairground stripper." There could be no choice more provocative.

It's highly likely that John will dedicate at least one song of his own to the love of his life at some point during their celebrations — and there's no one would could possibly do it better. The only problem is figuring out how to do a first dance to your own tune.
