Fans Are Freaking Out Over Camila Cabello’s Abrupt Decision to Leave Fifth Harmony
All clearly was not right in the 5H world.
After four and a half years together, Fifth Harmony is now reduced to four.
Harmonizers were greeted with shocking news Sunday night when it was revealed via Twitter that Camila Cabello would be abruptly leaving the pop group. The strangest part about the announcement was that the remaining members — Dinah Jane, Normandi Kordei, Ally Brooke, and Lauren Jauregui — seemed to have no idea about Cabello's plans to leave and weren't even told by her in person.
Check out the statement from 5H (4H?) below:
For those of you who aren't familiar with the girl group — or who don't have 12-year-old daughters or sisters — Fifth Harmony was formed by Simon Cowell on Season 2 of The X Factor back in 2012.
After spending the last few years struggling to break the Top 40 and serving as the opening act at pop shows, the group finally hit it big with their wildly successful "Work from Home," the lead single from their sophomore album 7/27. The track hit No. 4 on the Hot 100, and solidified their place on the mainstream radio waves.
Fans of course, were saddened by the group's split. #FourthHarmony trended on Twitter almost immediately after Fifth Harmony tweeted the news.
However, many weren't shocked by Cabello's departure given how she had been hinting at a solo career for months (see: her 2016 Machine Gun Kelly collab "Bad Things").
Also, shortly after the announcement leaked audio of Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui allegedly speaking out about the group's labor conditions was released on Twitter further pointing to the fact that all was not right in the 5H world.
We wish them all luck. Though Cabello potentially has a bright solo career ahead of her, we'll also never get to know what Fifth Harmony could have done with their recent string of successes.
