Tina Fey Strips Down to Her Underwear on 'Letterman' in Both Tribute and Protest
Spanx for everything, Dave.
A woman's beauty regimen is something I'll never fully understand. The face paint, the painful shoes, the hair maintenance, the products for every nook and cranny — it sounds more like torture than upkeep. So I totally sympathize with Tina Fey taking a stand against at least one facet of the beauty industrial complex: fancy dresses and everything that goes on underneath them.
During her last appearance on The Late Show, Fey explained that Letteman would be the last late-show host to see her in a fancy dress, "out of respect " for his legacy and because dresses are "hard work" and uncomfortable. "I’m not gonna put on a dress for Jimmy [Fallon]? That’s creepy. He’s like my brother [or] special underwear for James Corden? Not gonna happen."
Fey then went a step further and offered up her dress as a token of appreciation. This is what happened next:
Never again, Spanx! Never again!
Bless you, Tina Fey. You are a hero.
