George Clooney and Wife Amal Celebrate Second Anniversary

'And they said it wouldn't last.'

Not all celebrity relationships end in ruins, and we're holding out hope for the dream team that is George and Amal Clooney.

The couple recently celebrated their second anniversary Thursday, September 27, — a fact George was sure to point out during Saturday's annual "Night Under the Stars" benefit in Los Angeles.

"And they said it wouldn't last," George joked while hosting the event. "Ah, we proved them wrong!"

A second wedding anniversary is quite a thing to celebrate, which George admitted they did...with plenty of booze.

"We mostly drank," the 55-year-old told ET on the event's red carpet. "I made dinner and we had a very romantic second anniversary. Very civilized."

George also took time out of the night to discuss Amal's ongoing work against ISIS. The accomplished attorney is currently making a case to multiple countries to take the terrorist group to court for genocide, an act George referred to as "heroic."

"Of course I'm proud of her. Yeah, it comes with risk," he said.

George and Amal married in 2014 at the Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice, Italy. The couple's best friends were present, including Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso and John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

Wishing a lifetime of happiness to this high-achieving couple.
