Gina Giovangelo Leaves Court Before Hit-and-Run Arraignment

Gina Giovangelo is an 18-year-old woman from Hyannis, Massachusetts who was supposed to be arraigned today in the hit-and-run death of a woman in a wheelchair earlier this week. She fled the court this morning just minutes before she was supposed to face the judge. Now there is a warrant out for her arrest, according to BostonHerald.com.

Giovangelo allegedly struck a 47-year-old woman named Lillian White who was going back to her apartment in her motorized wheelchair Tuesday night after running to a convenience store. Police say the woman was dragged 50 feet by the car.

According to reports, the girl told her lawyer she was going outside to smoke a cigarette this morning before appearing before the court, and then never came back. Apparently she has not yet been located by authorities, but there have been several reports of people who believed they have seen her today.
