In her 70 years of life, Goldie Hawn has witnessed great progress in gender equality, but one recent event is particularly notable: Hillary Clinton's presumptive presidential nomination.

If everything goes to plan, Clinton will be the first female ever to have been nominated for United States presidency by the DNC. For perspective, Franklin D. Roosevelt had recently handed the title over to Harry S. Truman when Hawn was born in 1945 — just 25 years after the 19th amendment was ratified, giving women the right to vote. She was still in grade school during the Cold War.

Hawn demonstrated her enthusiasm via Instagram, writing that after Clinton's nomination, "there's no turning back now":

History has been made. There is no turning back now. Tears of joy.

"History has been made. There is no turning back now. Tears of joy," the Overboard star captioned.

According to Newsmeat, Hawn donated $32,540 to the Democratic party between 1980 and 2004. She also spoke out against the war in Iraq.

Just hours earlier, she also posted a tribute to the late Muhammad Ali: "We will always remember you," she said of the legendary boxer, who died June 3.

We Will always remember you! RIP BUTTERFLY.
