Lead Singer of INXS Homeless, Bandless

J.D. Fortune, the most recent lead singer of INXS just learned a very important lesson. Before running to the media to complain about being kicked out of your band, it wouldn't hurt to double check with the group, just to make sure they actually want you gone.

Just last week Fortune told Entertainment Tonight Canada that INXS had let him go over a year ago. They apparently left him stranded in a Hong Kong airport after a 23-month tour, with only a handshake and a "Thank you very much." The native Canadian also said he's currently homeless, living out of his truck and hasn't talked to the band since they dropped him.

But Chris Murphy, the band's creative director, told the Daily Telegraph that Fortune was seriously mistaken and INXS still considered him an integral part of their group:
The band has always stated to me that Fortune's services could potentially be contracted again when INXS next tour. In fact, he was next on my list to call regarding a very big recording project I am putting together of INXS at present. I guess I have no reason to call him now."
Although it sucks to be Fortune right now, this whole scenario does seem a little odd. What kind of band fails to talk to their lead singer for over a year, and allows him to fall into poverty?

Answer: The kind of band that wants their lead singer gone.

But, no one would blame INXS if they just came clean. Fortune had been with the band since 2005, after winning the spot on the reality show Rockstar: INXS, and reportedly began using cocaine regularly.

The band's original singer, Michael Hutchence had cocaine in his system when he hanged himself in 1997. I don't think anyone would blame the group for not wanting to relive that nightmare.

Fortune is supposedly now clean and attempting to scrape up as much money as possible to finish his first solo album, The Death of a Motivational Speaker.
