How Many Times Did You Laugh at the 'Dumb and Dumber To' Trailer?

The Dumb and Dumber sequel was an on-again-off-again Hollywood myth for years, with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels both waffling on whether it was something worth doing. Now, 20 years after the original, they decided to give it a go, but the jury's still out on whether or not the resurrection of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne can meet expectations.

The sequel, titled with the grammatically offensive Dumb and Dumber To, is once again directed by the Farrelly Brothers and follows Lloyd and Harry as they head out in search of Harry's long lost daughter, who also figures to be Lloyd's Mary Samsonite-level target of obsession.

For most kids growing up in the '90s, Dumb and Dumber was HUGE. It still gets quoted in casual conversation and you're basically legally required to watch it all the way through whenever you catch one of its many TNT airings. But is nostalgia enough to get you through the sequel? A good test is to watch the trailer (above) and decide if the gags leave you laughing or leave you skeptical. Let's try it.

If you answered yes more often than not, chances are Dumb and Dumber To is going to live up to the high bar set by its predecessor. If the jokes in the trailer had you cringing, then maybe you're setting yourself up for disappointment by seeing the sequel. As someone who grew up on Dumb and Dumber, the trailer left me a little uneasy — like maybe I need to be 13 again — but I did enjoy Rob Riggle's vending machine camouflage.
