Kelly Clarkson Is Getting Her Own Talk Show And It Sounds Pretty Darn Amazing
Move over, Ellen! There's a new talk show host in town.
Daytime TV has been waiting for a moment like this.
Kelly Clarkson confirmed the rumors are true: She is launching her own daytime talk show, and it's going to be awesome, y'all. NBC's The Kelly Clarkson Show will premiere in Fall 2019 and will serve as a lead into Ellen. The one-hour series will allow the Grammy winner and American Idol alum to do what she does best: Chat up a storm and sing her heart out.
"I love connecting with people, playing games, music and finding ways to help or give back to communities/organizations," Clarkson explained in a statement. "Having my own talk show where I get to do all of these things is pretty much a dream job!"
According to an official statement released by NBC, this will be "a fun, energetic show that breaks with tradition. In each episode audiences will experience an hour full of remarkable stories, celebrity guests, spontaneous surprises, humor, heart and, of course, good music! It's like a weekday brunch party with a fascinating guest list of people who would otherwise never meet."
It sounds like a mix of the Graham Norton Show, with a dash of Ellen, and a pinch of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, doesn't it?
Speaking of Jimmy Fallon, Clarkson stopped by his late-night series on Tuesday and spilled some details about her upcoming daytime talk show.
Clarkson is also an executive producer on the series, along with her husband, Brandon Blackstock. But don't get it twisted! Just because Clarkson has her own talk show now doesn't mean that she's abandoning her music projects. She'll continue to tour for her eighth studio album Meaning of Life and will return for Season 15 of The Voice.
"We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall," revealed Valari Staab, President of NBCUniversal Owned TV Stations. "She's genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen, providing an afternoon of great television."
