BFFs Ellen DeGeneres and Justin Timberlake Adorably Freak Out as DeGeneres Breaks Record for Most People's Choice Awards Ever Won
As of Wednesday's ceremony, the talk show host has won 20 People's Choice Awards.
Winning 20 People's Choice Awards also means having recited 20-ish acceptance speeches. So when the immensely popular Ellen DeGeneres broke the record for the most People's Choice Awards ever won on Wednesday evening, it made sense that her speech included, well...slightly less sense than those that came before.
While accepting the awards for Favorite Daytime TV host and Favorite Animated Movie Voice, DeGeneres thanked the people — and talked up the animals.
"I say thank you, people. And the only thing that would make me happier — and not...not a lot happier, because this makes me happy — but if it was voted on my animals because I love animals, and I think they know how much I love them. But animals aren't organized enough to have an awards ceremony," she said. "At least I have not seen one.
"And they have paws," she added, "so it would hit a lot of numbers and it wouldn't be able to dictate the person that they would be hoping to vote for."
While the Finding Dory star's words were entertaining as usual, her good friend Justin Timberlake presented her the honor on a slightly more serious note.
"She's a trailblazer, a rule-breaker, a relentless philanthropist," Timberlake said of his friend, "a presidential medal of freedom winner and one of the funniest and most talented people on the planet. I'm talking, of course, about Portia's baby momma, Ellen DeGeneres!"
"She continues to make history by officially winning the most People's Choice Awards by any human, ever," he continued excitedly. "She is one of my very good friends. I love her so much. She is one of the best people on this planet and no one is more deserving."
"I mean, the proof is in the pudding," he wrapped up. "Simply put, Ellen DeGeneres is the 'People's Champ.'"
No truer words.
