According to insiders, State of Play screenwriter Billy Ray is in talks with Fox to create a movie based on the show, which has been on for eight seasons. Last month, 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, who plays lead character Jack Bauer, admitted he was interested in doing a big screen version because the "game has changed."

And if you did television, you wouldn't be allowed to do films. That was when we had three networks. We have six hundred now, and if I want to see Paul Newman in a movie, I don't have to go out. And so the game has changed. And I think we're going to have to adjust with it."

Kiefer also suggested that the movie could be a "two-hour representation of a day." Reports suggest the feature would see Jack come to Europe, although planning is still in the preliminary stages.
