Less than 24 hours after canceling an Indiana gig due to exhaustion and dehydration, Lady Gaga went on the Oprah Winfrey Show Friday to talk about her music and art and perform a raucous three-song medley for Oprah's studio audience.

Taken aback at Gaga's over-the-top pageantry, Oprah, who also spoke with Avatar director James Cameron on Friday, mentioned that she'd like to spend 10 minutes in Cameron's head. For Gaga? "I'd like to be in yours for about three."

Gaga said it was funny that Cameron was on the same show because the two have both been thinking blue. "It's actually kind of funny you mention James Cameron because I've been talking about how I want to paint myself blue at one of my performances for the longest time," she said. "Everyone was like 'no, you can't paint yourself blue.' And I was preparing to do it, and then Avatar came out. I told you!"

Oprah and Gaga also talked about costuming, with the singer mentioning that most people don't understand just how much work she puts into shows. The singer admitted that she's sometimes intentionally provocative, but offered an explanation.

"Being provocative is not just about getting people's attention," Gaga said. "It's about really saying something that affects people -- in a real way, in a positive way. So all the things that I do, in terms of the Fame and in terms of the Fame Monster, it's meant to sort of make it a bit easier to swallow this kind of horrific media world that we live in."

Lady Gaga went on to perform a medley of Monster, Bad Romance, and Speechless while heaving a microphone attached to a ball and chain (subtle, right?). Oprah's audience was packed with Gaga's "Little Monsters," dressed up in Gaga-esque costumes. Check out the video for yourself.
