Translating Lady Gaga's Japanese Body Writing

Lady Gaga landed in Japan Tuesday and she showed her love for all her fans there by using a Sharpie to send them a message. And fortunately we at Zimbio have a translator with just enough experience to make out the katakana written on her body and her VERY EXPENSIVE hand bag (more about that below).

All you "Little Monsters" out there should enjoy the results.

1. The Arm
Fortunately, Gaga made sure we could see her arm well enough to read the writing. According to our resident translator, it looks like this was written by someone who knows how to draw the characters, and t's in a formal style used for writing foreign words in Japanese.

Gaga's arms says "ai rabu ritoru monsutaa" or "I love little monster." For the record, there's no way to pluralize nouns in the Japanese language.

2. The Bag (Top)
If you compare the two, you'll notice that the writing on the top part of Gaga's bag is very similar to the writing on her arm. But this one says "ai rabu sumouru monsutaa" or "I love small monster."

Now before we go any further, it's worth noting that the hand bag Gaga ruined (or improved depending on how you look at things) is an Hermes "Birkin" bag, which generally sells for around $6,500, and is one of the most rare hand bags in the world. Hermes makes the bag intentionally hard to find and writing on one with a Sharpie is possibly the fashion equivalent of smashing a very expensive and hard-to-find guitar.

3. The Bag (Bottom)
The bottom part of the writing on Gaga's bag says "Tokyo rabu" or "Tokyo love." So to recap, Gaga love love loves (that's three times) her "little monsters" in Tokyo. We're sure her Japanese fans feel the same way about her. Show us that sexy "monster" face!

There it is. Godzilla's got nothing on you, Gaga.
