Lana Del Rey's New Single "Honeymoon" is Her Most Haunting Yet

Listen to the unexpected track; the full album won't be out until September.

In patent Lana Del Rey form, the iconic pop vixen has released what might be her most emotionally-charged single yet.

"Honeymoon," the title track from her newest album out this September, tells the story of a lover with a dark past. Not particularly uncharted territory for Del Rey, whose musical brand is somewhere in between Lolita and wistful wood nymph.

The single was released on her own YouTube channel, and response has been positive in the majority. Fans have been quick to cite the song as proof one that Del Rey is not simply another "industry puppet," a term that seems ubiquitous in the genre of pop.

It also seems that "Honeymoon" wasn't exactly expected. Many had anticipated the sad track to have a stronger, edgier vibe, much like "Born To Die."

Though it is a less traditional choice for an album's first single, we're surely in for plenty of pop-strong tunes come September.
