Of Course Leonardo DiCaprio Is Making a 'Captain Planet' Movie

Leonardo DiCaprio is ready to take pollution down to zero.
Paramount is apparently teaming up with DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions to bring Captain Planet and the Planeteers to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot will take place years after the adventures of the show and will find the Captain a "washed-up has-been who needs the kids more than they need him."
For those who need a refresher, Captain Planet and the Planeteers was a short-lived (and beloved, I may add) '90s animated series that followed five kids who possessed magical rings (Earth! Wind! Fire! Water! Heart!). When they combined their rings, they summoned a green-mulleted, blue-skinned superhero who would help them ward off bad guys set on destroying the planet's ecosystem in some way.
Though this new project may seem like a weird and random undertaking for DiCaprio — considering his last role in The Revenant — the actor is highly outspoken about issues concerning the environment.
No word yet on who they'll tap to play the titular Captain, but let's hope that DiCaprio suddenly finds himself inspired. We can see it now... The Revenant meets DiCaprio in Captain Planet garb. It has the potential to be pretty bad-ass. Well, as long as they leave the horse guts and bears out of it.
Yasss, let's do this.
