Back in the day, if you wanted to vote for your favorite American Idol contestant 50 times, you had to sit by the phone pressing redial over and over again. But not anymore.
The veteran Fox singing competition is introducing SuperVote, an online tool that allows fans to cast 50 votes all at once on any of the AT&T American Idol Vote platforms, including AmericanIdol.com, the show's mobile app, and Facebook. Fans will be able to send all 50 votes to one contestant, or spread them out among a few different performers.
Idol introduced online voting last season in addition to the normal phone and text methods of voting. The addition of the SuperVote ought to free up all those teenage girls who used to spend hours texting votes for their favorites. Maybe now they can do more productive things with their time — like tweet at Justin Bieber or harass anyone who dares to date a member of One Direction.
The new Idol voting system will kick off tomorrow night when the 10 semifinalist girls hit the stage.
