It's Official! Meghan Markle Is Leaving 'Suits' After Season 7
Princess duties are probably going to be a major interference!
Goodbye Pearson Specter Litt, hello royal family!
On Tuesday, USA Network officially announced the departure of Meghan Markle from the network’s long-running legal drama, Suits. The actress and soon-to-be princess of Wales is an original cast member, but she’s leaving the acting life behind at the end of Season 7.
This news is no surprise, especially since Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry was announced yesterday. In fact, her fellow cast member and TV-fiancé, Patrick J. Adams, is also departing the series at the end of the upcoming season.
During her BBC interview with Prince Harry, Markle confirmed that she is closing the chapter on her life as an actress. However, there has been no confirmation about a possible return for Adams on Suits. There is a possibility that we’ll see his character, Mike Ross, in a recurring or guest-starring capacity past Season 7.
USA Network released the following statement about Markle’s very expected exit: “From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.”
For the past seven seasons, Markle portrayed the ambitious, witty, and easy to love Rachel Zane on Suits. Her romance with Mike is what truly elevated the show’s love factor, and that’s precisely why their absence will hit hard. While we wish Markle a very happily ever after, she will surely be missed on Suits.
