Though Live! isn't expected to announce the big news until September 4, sources close to the show have confirmed that the NFL star has nabbed the most coveted gig in daytime TV. Strahan was among the 59 (yes, 59!) different men and women who have joined Ripa on Live! since Regis Philbin exited the show in November. Strahan appeared on the show 16 times, and during his most recent appearance, Kelly Ripa seemed to indicate that he was the clear front-runner when she joked, "At this point, I feel like you should be introducing me!"
The new Live! gig reportedly won't affect Strahan's role as the co-host of Fox NFL Sunday. The defensive end, 40, played his entire 14-year NFL with the New York Giants and retired in 2008 after winning the Super Bowl.
Strahan clearly has a great sense of humor and a willingness to embarrass himself, as evidenced by a recent episode of Live! where he gave Magic Mike star Channing Tatum a run for his stripping money. Press play to check it out!
