Liam Hemsworth Firmly Defends His Previous Engagement to Miley Cyrus
The Aussie hunk isn't letting the haters define his relationship with Miley.

Back in 2012, Liam Hemsworth put a ring on Miley Cyrus despite their young age, and he has no regrets about the big decision. Hemsworth was 22 at the time while Cyrus was just 19. After hitting a major rough patch in the middle, the couple called it quits, but they are back together now. Hallelujah!
In fact, things are going so well that Hemsworth isn't afraid to publicly defend his lady love. In a new interview, the 26-year-old actor chatted about his forthcoming blockbuster Independence Day: Resurgence, and he also didn't hold back while defending his previous engagement to Cyrus.
When asked whether the decision was an “impetuous” one, Hemsworth firmly responded: “I don't think that was impulsive. That was a well thought-out idea.”
Although Hemsworth and Cyrus split up in 2013, they remained friends until they decided to rekindle their romance earlier this year. However, neither one of them has officially confirmed their relationship status, but they have been spotted together multiple times. In fact, Cyrus constantly hints about their romance on Instagram.
Hemsworth and Cyrus were most recently spotted on a date night in NYC. Yeah, the couple finally held hands in public! Woot woot for progress.
In the new issue of GQ Australia, the Aussie hunk further reflected on his highly-publicized relationship. “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen,” he explained about their breakup. “We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that.”
However, things have clearly changed for them now. “I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it,” Hemsworth added. “I make my decisions about what's going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do—and I don't worry too much outside of that.”
So will Hemsworth ever admit that he's back together with Cyrus?
“People will figure it out, they already have...They're not dumb.”
