Sixteen Candles star Molly Ringwald took the stage at the 2010 Oscars to honor director John Hughes. John Hughes penned "Mr. Mom" , "National Lampoon's Vacation," and "Natonal Lampoon's European Vacation." He wrote and directed "16 Candles," "The Breakfast Club," and "Weird Science." 

John Hughes died of a heart attack on August 6, 2009, while in New York City visiting his family. He was 59 years old.
