Kanye Explains His 'Yeezus' Album Title: It's His 'God Name'

(PacificCoastNews)Kanye West held a listening party for his new album Yeezus at New York City's Milk Studios on Monday evening, revealing collaborations with the likes of Justin Vernon, Chief Keef, Daft Punk, and Kid Cudi. After the music stopped, Kanye took the mic to explain a few things, including the controversial album title.

"I wanna explain something about the title Yeezus," West announced. "Simply put, West was my slave name and Yeezus is my god name.”

West's proclamation is fitting, given the lyrical content of the tracks he's already unveiled, most notably "New Slaves" and "I Am a God." It also indicates that he no longer cares at all whether people think him an ego-driven maniac — he won't be apologizing for anything on the Today show ever again.

Below, check out MissInfo's video of Kanye talking about the new album, his work with executive producer Rick Rubin, and wanting to make the "best product possible."
