President Obama Believes Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj Will 'Sort It Out'

(PacificCoastNews, Getty, Fame Flynet)President Obama is in the most crucial stage of his campaign, the home stretch, and he's been fielding the toughest questions of his career. So he must find it a total relief when someone actually wants to know what he thinks of the pop culture scandal du jour — which is, these days, the ongoing feud between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

Obama, ever the optimist, told radio host Michael Yo, "I think they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident. I am all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they're moving forward and not going backwards."

Obama went on to call Carey a "wonderful lady," and noted that he has a couple of Minaj's songs on his iPod. This isn't the first time he's been asked to weigh in on Minaj's words, either: A few months ago, the attention-grabbing rapper raised some eyebrows when she spat the line "I'm a Republican, voting for Romney /You lazy b**ches is f**kin' up the economy."

Obama told Orlando radio station 95.3 that he wasn't worried he'd lost her vote: "I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don't know what's going on there."

Minaj responded via Twitter, writing, "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do... *sends love & support.*" She then added, "Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question."
